Slowing a Gallop to a Walk
Therapy ! Would you associate that word with horses ? No, nor me, however, it's been proven that being around horses can be calming. Horses are known for their relaxing nature. Becci Godfrey of "HorsesenseUK" tells me how the process works at her farm in Mark Cross East Sussex. I visited her recently to find out all about her passion and relationship with the horses. Daily life for many was getting out of control before the pandemic and real work/life balance.
As humans we suffer anxiety, stress and animals have a calming effect on us. Many animals are used in visiting patients and the elderly. Becci has gifted sessions to the NHS frontline staff at various hospitals like The Royal Marsden, St Thomas's, Guy's and Pembury Hospital Tunbridge Wells. This was welcomed by the staff and some came back for further sessions. So sit back make a tea and have a look at this video. https://youtu.be/4kUnZkFJU8w
Horses are very perceptive animals and pick up on our moods and react accordingly when around us. They may walk away or walk to you and stand by you. I found the fascinating in the time we were together Squirrel and Dainty both came to me and stood by me it was a lovely experience.
